I’ve been getting a few requests the past two weeks for commission work, so I thought I’d offer some details if anyone else is interested…
Want me to draw a portrait of someone such as a friend, family member or other loved ones? What about your favorite character from (insert tv/movie/comic book here)? Or maybe you have a favorite Tales of the 8th Grade Nothing character you’d like to have. The commission can be of a single character with or without a background. (Depending such may cost extra in some situations… e-mail me for further clarification.) All I ask is that you keep it clean (well, PG-13 clean).
Prices:
One Character: For $10.00 everything is done digitally. The size of canvas (width/height) (within reason) is depending on you. Make sure to tell me exactly what you’d like me to draw, if the file size matters and if references are needed when I draw, please provide any pictures. (Color is a per-case basis and will cost extra, e-mail me for further clarification). Remember that the drawing will be particular as your request is. If your request in a generalized concept, you are giving me artistic license. (Also note: Accuracy of the commissions is relative to my knowledge of the subject matter, or a quick Google/Yahoo! search unless specified further by the buyer’s e-mail.)

Multiple Characters(up to 3): For $20.00 everything is done digitally. The size of canvas (width/height) (within reason) is depending on you. Make sure to tell me exactly what you’d like me to draw, if the file size matters and if references are needed when I draw, please provide any pictures. (Color and more than three planned characters are/is a per-case basis and will cost extra, e-mail me for further clarification) Remember that the drawing will be particular as your request is. If your request in a generalized concept, you are giving me artistic license. (Also note: Accuracy of the commissions is relative to my knowledge of the subject matter, or a quick Google/Yahoo search unless specified further by the buyer’s e-mail.)

Two Characters/Comic Book-Cover: For $70.00 it is drawn and inked on 11″ × 17″ Canson Fanboy Comic Bristol Board. File size (within reason) is depending on you, while the drawing via Bristol board is mailed to you. ($7.00 additional for mailing) Make sure to tell me exactly what you’d like me to draw, if the file size matters and if references are needed when I draw, please provide any pictures. So if you want a family member or loved one, or someone from Spider-man battling someone from DC or characters from Tales of the 8th Grade Nothing, I’ll do it! (more than three planned characters are/is a per-case basis and will cost extra, e-mail me for further clarification). Remember that the drawing will be particular as your request is. If your request in a generalized concept, you are giving me artistic license, though in this case, I do try to offer rough draft or concepts to the buyer due to the nature of the art being featured on Bristol board and Bristol board is considered ‘the bee’s knees’ when it comes to fancy. (Also note: Accuracy of the commissions is relative to my knowledge of the subject matter, or a quick Google/Yahoo! search unless specified further by the buyer’s e-mail.)

How Is Payment Accepted?
It is generally accepted via PayPal, but I will accept checks. I will NOT give out my information on the website, though, so please specify you would like to pay via check when you e-mail me with your idea for the commission!
What is the ETA of A Commission?
This is purely done on the side, so while commissions always take a high priority, RL responsibilites take a higher foothold. So it depends on the situation, but I’m usually pretty darn quick with my commissions.
What If I Needed It Yesterday?
If your commission is time sensitive, that is fine, but I am always willing to work something out, for a bit extra $$.
Do you offer us any peaks at any rough drafts, critiques of our commission on anything besides the ” Two Characters/Comic Book-Cover”,etc or refunds if we don’t like it?
Just a reminder that whatever you tell me to draw should be everything/a concern, etc you might have regarding the art should be in the original e-mail. So if you don’t like the pose of the characters, I apologize, but, well, I’d believe it sort of defeats the purpose of the whole commission process here (in this situation), as it’s more of an artist’s interpretation/artistic license you’re paying for, so…. unless you want to be real particular, I might bend this a bit. (Note, it may cost you.) And finally, all purchases are final. No refunds are offered for any reason, what so ever.
Why don’t you do the art and then I pay you?
No art is worked on until I get/receive payment. I’ve been cheated before, and sadly this is more of a security thing on my end that I don’t end up wasting my time. I love drawing, and drawing things for people but, I want to make sure I’m properly compensated for the loss of time where I could be drawing Tales of the 8thGrade Nothing or, interacting with my family and friends, or my job that pays the bills. ::insert smiley face here::
What supplies do you use to draw the commissions?
Depends on what you get. The digital purchase will be done using Photoshop CS3, my iMac and Wacom intuos tablet. General paper or 11″ × 17″ Canson Fanboy Comic Bristol Board, blue mechanical pencil and faber castell inks are used as well.
Why do I see you using that drawing on the facebook fan page or on your main blog?
Any commission work that I draw, I retain the right to use in any means to promote myself or my webcomic, Tales of the 8th Grade Nothing, in web or print form. Any concerns or queries can be brought to my attention at jdobbins2016(AT)gmail(DOT)com.
Not see a question here? How can I get it answered?
E-mail me! I don’t bite, I swear! You can reach me at jdobbins2016(AT)gmail(DOT)com. It might be added to this little section!
