The EGN 7 Link Challenge
Wednesday, Wes Molebash of the awesome comic “Max vs. Max” took the 7-Link Challenge and encouraged his readers to do the same. As per Wes, “the idea is the brainchild of Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.com, and the concept is simple: create a blog post that links to 7 other blog posts written by myself or someone else.” I too, felt like this was the way to go. :) So, I
1. Your First Comic
The character’s style has changed drastically, but the first comic is this little comic right here. But you’re going, “Jason! That isn’t the first comic though!” And you’d be right. Initially the first three comics live on the site were done way-after the fact, sorta to flesh things out a bit more and give it a nice build up of exposition. I think I ended up with the right choice, but in terms of the very first comic drawn? It was, in terms of live comic order, Comic Numba 4.
2. A Comic/Post You Enjoyed Writing The Most
In terms of writing, which I enjoyed the most of, well that depends. In terms of the whole she-bang, I really, really, really enjoyed the art and writing (or lack there of) in this particular strip. Back to writing though, I really, really enjoyed writing Jesus, he’s a thug-wannabe, or just trying to hard to seem hip but in fact, he is, but not for the reason he is trying. Which is sort of a big turn-face considering why he is there for Jason, but, I digress. :) So this one with Jesus is a big fave from what’s live….
3. A Comic/Post Which Had A Great Discussion
The Churchin’ It Up Storyline seemed to get a few comments and attracted new readers who might not normally find the website/comic, so, it was pretty neat to see new faces comment on the strip. As I know you guys don’t comment TOO often, but when you do, it gets fun or, being an artist, I have self-esteem problems so you guys are there to help unbruise my ego. :) In terms of MOST comments, it’d be this comic here. The end of the Churchin’ It Up Storyline.
4. A Comic On Someone Else’s Site You Wish You Had Written
Honestly? I’d say Axe Cop or Dr. McNinja, but then again, if I wrote them, it’d be completely different (sort of) than how they are now, and that’d remove what I LOVE about them. They truly are works of art and I honestly wouldn’t ultimately want to mess with either, if I could ‘go back in time’ kinda thing. So yeah. I know that’s a lame answer but, oh well. :)
5. Your Most Helpful Post
Well, in terms of what way, helpful? Personally I enjoyed writing my LOST finale review, because it felt like I was holding it in. Everyone around me was generally not found of it, or were tight lipped, but I love good discussion on things, geeky or otherwise, and since the last half deemed into religion, I was also interested because religion is a personal thing for people. It made me question whether or not people liked it due to their beliefs or if it helped fueled their dislike or like of the ending of the show. So I enjoyed the post, not a lot of peeps commented or commented in a way that was… well, “carrying the discussion on” to a place I would of liked but the fact that people commented to me was a-ok. (It goes back to that it helps unbruise my ego and esteem… )
6. A Comic/Post With A Title That You Are Proud Of
Hm. I’m not sure. 8th Grade Nothing isn’t built like a normal comic strip, meaning it’s not intentionally trying to be funny 100% of the time, but instead, tell a story in comic strip format, so, in terms of a title, well, I guess “Running of the Dobbins” which was a series of comics mostly done without any dialogue, set to the tune of “March of the Swivelheads” by Talking Heads. I literally didn’t know what else to call it, so…. maybe I’m mentally rewarding my own ‘last minute save’? I’ll let you decide.
7. A Comic/Post That You Wish More People Had Read
I sorta wish more people would of read the “Third Day of School” arc. From the way it looks on the back end (via statistics and google analytics), people seem to bypass or overlook the third day of school, which I felt was a really strong arc for Jason, CJ and Derrick, and finished setting up a lot of things to come.
Hope you guys enjoyed the 7 Link Comic Challenge, but now, I pose it to YOU! What are your links? (and by the way, it doesn’t have to be to EGN,) But if you have any, share them below in the comments section!
